Below is a scholarly annotated source which informed my writing of this paper
Borzenko, Andrey. “Brotherly Love: 25 Years on, the Artist behind the Iconic Berlin Wall Mural Tells His Story.” The Calvert Journal. Accessed March 28, 2019. https://www.calvertjournal.com/articles/show/3356/Dmitri-Vrubel-Berlin-Wall-Brezhnev-Honecker-Kiss.
This source is an interview with the artist of my artifact, Dmitri Vrubel. Vrubel painted what would go on to become the most famous mural on the Berlin Wall and one of the most recognizable pieces of contemporary art. He talks about the photo of Brezhnev and Honecker that inspired the piece and the process of getting the work onto the wall. Vrubel was most incessant on creating a piece that displayed completed love on a medium that stood for divisiveness and hate—a political satire. Oddly enough, it quickly became a piece of socialist history.
